ORANJESTAD (AAN): The Ban Serio Sigui Briya Campaign 2026 was introduced to focus on responsible behavior among citizens, not only during the Carnival season but also throughout the year. The campaign’s slogan, Sigui Briya, encourages everyone to be mindful of their impact on others.
Mrs. Derchlien Dijkhoff of Ban Serio! explained that the campaign is particularly significant during Aruba’s largest cultural festival, Carnival. The Ban Serio Sigui Briya Campaign 2026 aims to remind people to respect each other, care for our children, and honor our elders, reinforcing the values that are dear to the island and its culture.
In addition to this, Ban Serio! and the Aruba Tourism Authority (ATA) are continuing their efforts from previous years by donating sushi bags to those working to keep the island clean. Another aspect of the Ban Serio Sigui Briya Campaign 2026 is promoting responsible tourism. This part of the campaign focuses on using recycled materials for Carnival costumes to showcase the island’s commitment to sustainability.
Mrs. Dijkhoff also mentioned that, for the Carnival route, there will be a Ban Serio! Station two hours before the parade, where children and participants will be provided with biodegradable glitter to use during the event.
“Let’s celebrate our beautiful Carnival consciously, decently, and with respect for each other’s behavior during this season, and keep in mind the impact we have on those around us,” said Mrs. Dijkhoff.
