ORANJESTAD (AAN): Fundacion Savaneta volunteer and sponsor appreciation was emphasized by foundation president Norman Thijsen, who expressed deep gratitude for the continued support from volunteers and sponsors working together for the benefit of the Savaneta community.

In an interview with Matutino DIARIO, Thijsen stated that the foundation feels blessed by the strong backing it receives from local businesses. He noted that over time, the foundation has demonstrated that it operates with seriousness and commitment, delivering on its promises to the community. According to Thijsen, this consistency has earned the trust of sponsors who recognize the foundation’s impact.

Thijsen stressed that Fundacion Savaneta volunteer and sponsor appreciation goes hand in hand with recognizing the essential role of volunteers. Without volunteers, he said, none of the foundation’s initiatives would be possible. Events such as Aruba Doet regularly attract close to one hundred volunteers, reflecting the foundation’s active and welcoming environment.

He explained that many people are drawn to the foundation because of its positive atmosphere and strong sense of collaboration. The goal, he emphasized, is to promote togetherness within the neighborhood—doing things collectively for the benefit of Savaneta.

Speaking about the Masquerade Parade, Thijsen shared that the event originated three years ago and initially featured only brass band performances. The foundation intentionally avoids traditional bands to create a unique and distinctive atmosphere that sets the event apart from other celebrations.

For this year, the parade route has been slightly extended along the coastal road near Zeerover, allowing spectators to enjoy the festivities longer. Thijsen highlighted that the foundation itself does not have its own group but collaborates with community groups from Savaneta such as San Luis and La Fama. This year, Funari was also invited to participate with electric wheelchairs, reinforcing inclusion as part of Fundacion Savaneta volunteer and sponsor appreciation.

The upcoming parade is expected to include between 200 and 300 participants, divided among three large brass bands, two schools—including Scol Prome Paso—and a mobile DJ providing additional music throughout the event.
