On Tuesday afternoon, Prime Minister Mike Eman warmly welcomed Michael Sandel, the distinguished Harvard University Professor of Government and Political Philosophy, and internationally recognized author, who arrived in Aruba with his wife to participate in the Aruba’s Bon Comun Conference at the Renaissance Wind Creek Convention Center.

Michael Sandel is widely regarded as one of the most influential public philosophers in the world. His work focuses on justice, ethics, democracy, and the moral limits of markets, and has been translated into more than 30 languages. His Harvard course, Justice, became the first free online course offered by the university, reaching millions of people around the globe.

Sandel is the author of several groundbreaking books, including The Tyranny of Merit, What Money Can’t Buy, Justice, and Liberalism and the Limits of Justice, which link classical political philosophy with modern moral and civic issues. He has lectured at prestigious institutions such as Oxford, Sorbonne, and the Library of Congress, and delivered the BBC Reith Lectures.

With a clear commitment to expanding philosophy beyond the academy, Sandel has led global public discussions through television, radio, and online platforms, engaging audiences in countries such as Brazil, Japan, China, India, and the United Kingdom. His recent work includes the online course Tech Ethics, which addresses the ethical dilemmas surrounding AI and digital technology.
