Aruba police checks that began on Friday, October 30, covered more than 400 vehicles and resulted in 95 fines and seven arrests, according to NoticiaCla’s report published on October 31.
Vehicle documents among enforcement issues
The outlet reports that fines concerned driving licences, number-plate tax, insurance and vehicle inspection documents, among other matters. Traffic checks and preventive searches took place at several strategic locations and continued into the early morning.
Seven arrests reported during the operation
According to NoticiaCla, two people were detained for lacking residence permission, two for driving under the influence and one for marijuana possession. A driver was detained after officers found brass knuckles in a vehicle, and another person was detained for ammunition possession. The report also describes the confiscation of a machete, scissors and drugs during checks in neighbourhoods and nightlife establishments. These are reported arrests, not findings of guilt.
Halloween checks set to continue
Police said checks would continue across different districts on Saturday night, October 31. Drivers were reminded to keep their documents valid and arrange for a responsible driver if drinking alcohol.
