Aruba mini-turf fields are included in a new AWG 450,000 plan covering three neighborhood sites as the government continues expanding local sports infrastructure.
Three sites selected after land review
24ora reported that Sports Minister Gerlien Croes outlined the projects while discussing current work, future planning and cooperation with Lotto pa Deporte and the Aruba Football Association, known as AVB.
Croes said officials reviewed available land belonging to the government, FCCA and other entities to identify places suitable for new or renewed sports facilities. Three sites that had already received investment were selected, with AWG 450,000 planned across the three fields.
Maintenance is part of the project model
The minister said construction and renovation must be paired with long-term care. The government is working with sports associations on shared responsibility for maintaining facilities, with maintenance conditions intended to form part of agreements for new projects.
The approach is designed to prevent sports sites from deteriorating after they are built or upgraded.
Broader football projects remain in development
The report also described cooperation among the government, Lotto pa Deporte, AVB and FIFA on football infrastructure. AVB representative Randolf Lacle referred to a larger seven-field project and an arena-field initiative, alongside two additional projects recently announced.
Officials said the broader programme is intended to create more opportunities for young people and adults to take part in football and other physical activity close to their communities.
