MEP submitted 13 questions on Aruba vacation-rental taxes, revenue estimates, compliance tools and the government's proposed collection system.
Thirteen Questions Sent to the Finance Minister
MEP's parliamentary group has submitted 13 questions about Aruba vacation-rental taxes to the finance minister. The letter, signed by Evelyn Wever-Croes, asks why a concrete collection system has not yet been presented and seeks information on current tax receipts and possible losses in the short-term vacation-rental sector.
Party Seeks Data on Revenue and Compliance
MEP referred to an earlier Aruba Tourism Authority estimate of Afl. 60 million to Afl. 70 million in annual tourist-tax losses, excluding BBO and environmental levies. The party also cited Lighthouse monitoring that recorded about US$36.8 million in sector business volume in August 2026, stressing that the figure represented turnover rather than government tax revenue.
Questions Cover Coordination and a Proposed Law
The group asked whether the Tax Department uses ATA data for compliance checks, when structured consultations among the finance ministry, DIMP and ATA last occurred, and which collection options have been evaluated. It also requested the status of legislation for the Aruba Quality Hospitality Authority and asked for answers to all 13 questions by October 23, 2026.
