ORANJESTAD (AAN) – Parliamentarian Eduard Pieters, representing the PPA faction, recently organized an informative session concerning Artificial Intelligence (AI) for community centers. The event was developed in collaboration with experts Mr. Waslander and Mr. Bislip to support the objectives outlined in the “Plan Nos Aruba 2050.”
During the gathering, Pieters emphasized that Aruba must keep pace with global changes. He noted that AI is no longer a distant concept but a reality affecting daily life. The session focused on how this technology can be utilized as a positive tool for education, business, and community development.
The PPA aims to transform community centers into spaces for knowledge and innovation rather than just social meeting points. Pieters explained that programs would be adapted for various groups, including youth, seniors, and entrepreneurs. He stated that while AI can help small businesses and improve productivity, education and awareness are paramount.
“Technology is not dangerous. Technology like Artificial Intelligence without education is,” Pieters stated. He advocated for lifelong learning, arguing that investment in community knowledge is vital for a strong nation. The parliamentarian concluded that this initiative is a necessary step to prepare the local population for a future that is already present.
