Public Health Department Urges Residents to Help Stop Zika, Dengue & Chikungunya

ORANJESTAD – Aruba’s Department of Public Health (DVG) is calling on residents to take simple preventive actions to stop the spread of mosquito-borne diseases like Zika, Dengue, and Chikungunya.

Spokesperson Jurette Croes stressed the power of small efforts—like removing stagnant water from around the house. “A little puddle in a toy or flowerpot is all mosquitoes need to breed,” she said.

With support from the Yellow Fever Mosquito Control Unit (GKMB), DVG is rolling out an island-wide campaign asking the public to report symptoms and take action to eliminate mosquito breeding grounds.

If you’re experiencing fever, muscle pain, fatigue, or body aches, visit your doctor. Suspected cases will be tested, and teams can visit homes to inspect for mosquito hotspots. For help, contact DVG at 522-4200.
