ORANJESTAD –The Aruba government, in partnership with the Aruba Tourism Authority, is adopting a new approach to tourism that prioritizes attracting high-value visitors rather than simply increasing tourist numbers.

Tourism Minister Wendrick Cicilia revealed that after monitoring risks to the crucial North American market, the government has allocated funds to boost marketing in Europe and Latin America. These efforts aim to diversify Aruba’s tourism base and reduce reliance on any single market.

This diversification comes amid positive developments like increased flight capacity from Europe — including two extra KLM flights next summer and a new open skies agreement with Switzerland — making Aruba more accessible to a wider audience.

Minister Cicilia emphasized the goal of enhancing the quality of visitors based on their purchasing power, which will support sustainable growth and shared prosperity for the island community.

The minister also used the recent budget session to address and correct misinformation spread by opposition groups, reassuring the public about the government’s tourism plans.
