The Aruba Tourism Master Plan for 2026–2031 is moving toward its final operational framework after Tourism, Transportation and Labor Minister Wendrick Cicilia completed a third round of national dialogue with key stakeholders.
The three-day consultation brought together representatives of the Aruba Tourism Authority, Aruba Ports Authority, Aruba Hotel and Tourism Association and Aruba Timeshare Association. Public-sector companies, educators, environmental leaders and local businesses also took part.
Consultations focus on Aruba’s capacity
The discussions were intended to align national policy priorities and turn the plan’s strategic direction into practical work for the public and private sectors. Participants addressed Aruba’s physical, ecological and social capacity to sustain tourism.
Specific subjects included pressure on infrastructure, water management, nature conservation and the availability of housing for residents. Cicilia said growth in visitor numbers should no longer be the main goal or the primary measure of the destination’s success.
Operational framework adds shared accountability
The minister said tourism should be evaluated by how it improves daily life, expands quality career opportunities, strengthens Aruba’s resilience to economic shocks and protects cultural and ecological resources for future generations.
Stakeholder input is now being incorporated into the final operational structure. The work includes implementation timelines, coordination among agencies, workforce development, management of the tourism product, shared performance indicators and commitments for both public and private participants.
Cicilia is expected to present the final public version of the 2026–2031 plan soon.
