The Dutch Caribbean Coast Guard activated a helicopter on Saturday afternoon for an Aruba Coast Guard medical evacuation involving an ill person aboard a vessel at sea.
A Coast Guard spokesperson confirmed the active response to 24ora while the operation was still underway. The report did not identify the vessel, the person requiring assistance or the person’s medical condition.
Helicopter activated for response at sea
The Coast Guard response involved both a rescue operation and a medical evacuation. The reported circumstances were serious enough for the service to deploy its helicopter to assist the vessel.
At the time of the confirmation, officials had not released a location, timeline or outcome for the operation. No information was available about whether the person had been transferred to a medical facility.
Coast Guard says further details will follow
Coast Guard spokesperson Miguel Perret Gentil told 24ora that more information would be provided after the rescue operation was completed. The initial report therefore remains limited to the confirmed emergency response and helicopter activation.
