Aruba Airport Authority N.V. (AAA), the operator of Queen Beatrix International Airport, has officially announced the appointment of James Fazio as its Interim Chief Executive Officer, effective August 1, 2025. This move comes as AAA concludes a successful 12-month period under its Interim Management Team, which led the airport through major strategic and operational transitions.

Over the past year, the organization has achieved significant milestones, including the realignment of strategic goals, onboarding all U.S.-bound airlines into the new check-in terminal, implementing a fully automated baggage system, and driving recovery in passenger traffic and operational performance. Fazio’s interim leadership ensures that the airport maintains its operational momentum and strategic direction while the final stages of a Strategic Cooperation Agreement (SCA) between the Government of Aruba, AAA, and Royal Schiphol Group (RSG) are being finalized.

James Fazio brings deep experience to the role, having previously served as AAA’s CEO from 2013 to 2019. His recent visit to Aruba in June 2025 highlighted his enduring familiarity with the airport’s operations and long-term vision, positioning him to lead effectively during this transitional period.

Marion Kan, Chair of the Board of Supervisory Directors at AAA, expressed confidence in Fazio’s leadership: “James Fazio’s return marks a pivotal step in securing continuity and stability for the airport’s future. His insight and experience will help guide our operations through this new phase with strength and assurance.”

This interim appointment is in line with the strategic partnership between AAA and Royal Schiphol Group, which includes the provision of the CEO role under the SCA. Fazio’s focus will include maintaining regulatory compliance, preparing for the DCCA audit, and driving key expansion initiatives under the Gateway 2030 project, including Phases 1B, 2, and 3.

The Board, shareholders, and RSG extended their gratitude to outgoing interim leaders Aisha Anthony, Jurgen Benschop, and Barbara Brown, whose commitment over the past year ensured resilience, progress, and continuity during a crucial time for AAA.
