Milton Ponson said the Spatial Development Plan with Regulations was established in 2021 for a five-year period and that its review was expected to begin in 2026. According to the organization, the government’s decision to extend the current rules until 2029 departs from that timetable. The broader Spatial Development Plan was established in 2019 and runs through 2029.
Housing and rentals are central to the warning
Ponson argued that the review offers an opportunity to respond to homes and apartment complexes being converted into short-term tourist rentals. He said postponement could make it harder to adjust land-use rules while local workers and families face pressure in the rental market.
