Stichting ASamBeHo Aruba has introduced a new logo and visual identity centered on preserving and passing on Aruba’s musical heritage. The presentation took place at Kalibra under the theme “ASamBeHo: Living Heritage.”
Foundation president Bobby Gibbs and Giovanni Muller explained the meaning behind the updated design and the organization’s cultural work. Gibbs has been involved in music for nearly five decades and traces part of that journey to Jamming Brass, formed in 1979, as well as brass-band activity in Curaçao and the Netherlands.
Rhythm, teaching and continuity
The logo combines the foundation’s name with crossed drumsticks and three abstract drum figures. It uses the primary colors associated with Aruba’s flag and is intended to communicate rhythm, music education and the transfer of knowledge to younger generations.
ASamBeHo’s work draws on Afro-Caribbean rhythms along with scouting drumband and brass-band traditions. Although the people behind the initiative have long histories in music, the foundation itself has been formally active for about five years.
Keeping heritage active
The launch emphasized that musical heritage is not only something to document, but something communities keep alive through performance, teaching and participation. A brass performance concluded the event and demonstrated the traditions represented by the new identity.
