ORANJESTAD (AAN) – Prosecutors in the Aruba abuse trial requested a 54-month prison sentence against a 32-year-old Haitian man accused of drugging and sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl.
According to court proceedings, the suspect denied forcing the victim and claimed the sexual encounter was consensual. However, prosecutors and the judge questioned his statements and pointed to medical findings and witness testimony supporting the victim’s version of events.
Authorities stated the incident allegedly occurred after the victim consumed alcohol and later experienced a blackout. Prosecutors argued the suspect knowingly pursued contact with the underage girl despite being informed she was only 15 years old.
During the hearing, the accused apologized to the victim’s mother and his own partner. Prosecutors requested a prison sentence of four years and six months, including a suspended portion under probation conditions.
The court is expected to deliver its verdict on May 29, 2026.
