Aruba’s karting community has a new route into organized racing through a partnership between CarQuest and Tillotson. The companies introduced factory-specification karts intended to lower technical and financial barriers for drivers interested in the sport.
A standardized racing format
Ian Harms of Tillotson Aruba presented the program at CarQuest, which is the brand’s official distributor on the island. The format places competitors in similarly prepared karts, limiting engine tuning and shifting more emphasis toward driver skill, consistency and race strategy.
Supporters of the model say standardized equipment can make competition easier to understand and more affordable for newcomers. It can also help young drivers develop in a category where differences in machinery are more tightly controlled.
Local testing at Bushiri
Tillotson Aruba has already tested the equipment at Bushiri Karting. According to the presentation, the karts recorded podium finishes and pole positions during local competition, giving the partners practical information about how the platform performs on Aruba’s track.
