ORANJESTAD (AAN) – Vegetables recorded the largest price increase among food categories in Aruba during May 2026, according to the latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) report released by the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS).
The Food and Catering Services index increased by 0.5% in May after rising 0.3% in April. Within the Food at Home category, seven of the eleven food groups recorded higher prices during the month.
Vegetable prices rose by 2.8%, the largest increase among all food categories. Other notable increases were recorded for fruit, which climbed 2.5%, fish and other seafood at 1.4%, and sugar, jam, and confectionery products, which increased by 1.2%.
Meanwhile, potatoes, cassava, and sweet potatoes recorded the largest decline, falling 4.3% compared with April.
The Food Away From Home index increased by 0.9% during May. Overall, food consumed at home and away from home rose by 0.5%, contributing 0.08 percentage points to Aruba’s monthly Consumer Price Index, while all other goods and services increased by 1.1%, accounting for the remaining 0.93 percentage points.
