ORANJESTAD, Aruba – The Sports Administration Course continued yesterday evening with a session focused on the role of the president within a sports organization.
After previously covering broader topics related to sports organization management, the course shifted its attention to the specific responsibilities and leadership role of a sports association president. Every sports association is governed by a board of directors, led by a president elected to guide and manage the organization.
For the three lessons dedicated to this important topic, organizers invited Dave Martinus, a professional with extensive expertise and experience serving on the boards of various organizations. Martinus has also participated in several programs organized by the Aruba Olympic Committee (COA), including the Capacity Building Training program.
The session encouraged active dialogue among participants, who shared personal experiences and discussed the challenges associated with the duties and responsibilities of a sports organization president.
The strong engagement demonstrated a genuine interest in learning more about sports leadership and governance. Participants also explored ways to improve their own organizations and strengthen their current leadership practices.
The course aims to help sports administrators develop the skills and knowledge needed to enhance sports management and contribute to the continued growth and development of sports in Aruba.
