ORANJESTAD (AAN) – Lito Lacle, President of the Aruba Police Union (SPA), reported on the ongoing personnel shortage at the Department of Recherche (DAR). Despite repeated requests, a resolution has not yet been reached.

Union members were previously asked to attend a meeting at Wayaca to discuss solutions, but the Korpschef did not appear. Lacle noted that as of June 16, a new meeting is scheduled with police leadership, but the time and location are still unknown.

The shortage of staff, combined with high workloads and overlapping shifts since 2019, continues to affect DAR employees’ welfare and operational efficiency. SPA urges direct dialogue with the Minister of Justice to address these urgent staffing issues and improve working conditions.
