The Ministry of Health, Social Affairs, Elderly Care, and Addiction Management has received a recommendation report aimed at strengthening the Kwaliteitsinstituut Gezondheidszorg (KIG) Aruba. Presented by Prof. dr. Patrick Jeurissen and Edwin Brugman, the document addresses the positioning of the institute to improve and guarantee health care quality in Aruba.
Prepared with technical assistance from TWO Netherlands, the report is based on consultations with 40 stakeholders and partners in the health sector. It contains recommendations to further strengthen KIG and consolidate its role in improving care standards.
Minister drs. Melvin Wyatt-Ras stated that the report provides a crucial foundation to strengthen the institute. He emphasized the objective of providing KIG with more form, capacity, and an independent role to guarantee care quality for the people. Prof. dr. Patrick Jeurissen remarked that high-quality care is important for every country, including Aruba, and expressed satisfaction with the steps being taken to create a lasting base for quality care.
In the coming period, the report will be shared with relevant stakeholders to obtain reactions and determine the next steps for implementation. The Ministry expressed gratitude to TWO, the experts, and all stakeholders for their contributions to the process.
