The Government of Aruba and the Netherlands have outlined the progress of ongoing reforms in the Uitvoeringsrapportage Landspakket Aruba, covering the period from April 1 to September 30, 2026. The document highlights a transition from policy design to implementation, with a specific focus on strengthening the health and education sectors. While significant steps have been taken, the report notes that several projects continue to encounter challenges related to planning, organization, and execution capacity.
In the healthcare sector, the primary objectives are to enhance quality, accessibility, and financial sustainability. Achievements so far include the signing of the Zorgakkoord, the development of a financial model, and the rationalization of laboratory tariffs. Additional progress includes the implementation of legislation for generic medications and the expansion of intervention programs for obesity. Furthermore, an initial measurement of the situation regarding diabetes care has been realized.
The education sector is simultaneously undergoing improvements, including the modernization of educational materials, better support for students, and the renovation of school infrastructure. These measures are part of the wider Landspakket agreement established in 2020 to modernize Aruba’s public services.
