Aruba news roundup Events, Safety and Tourism : The “Zona di Desperdicio” in Barcadera was officially inaugurated on Monday, June 1, marking a concrete step in Aruba’s continued efforts toward a cleaner island. Simultaneously, the Atlantic hurricane season officially commenced on the same day. The 2026 season will feature names from Arthur to Wilfred, with Leah being the only new name replacing Laura.

Emergency services were active across the island on Monday. Police responded to an accident near Maria College caused by a lack of precedence. Another accident occurred in Sabana Berde near PriceSmart, where a driver failed to regulate speed or maintain distance, resulting in a rear-end collision. In Bubali, an accident near Euroceramica resulted in minor injuries. A significant fire was reported in the kitchen of the Pacifico restaurant in Dakota, causing damage outside the building near a large gas tank.

Law enforcement updates include the arrest of seven persons by the Department of Organized Crime on Friday, May 29. The department confiscated bales of drugs during the operation. Additionally, the Coast Guard initiated a search on Saturday evening for a man possibly lost at sea following a maritime report.
