ORANJESTAD (AAN) – Refineria di Aruba (RdA) stated that developing a Tank Farm storage operation is currently considered the most realistic and promising option for the future of Aruba’s refinery area.
According to RdA representative Robert Henriquez, the refinery complex has remained inactive for years and many sections are now in deteriorated condition.
Henriquez explained that RdA recently completed an inventory and evaluation process to review past refinery proposals and determine which projects remain economically realistic.
Officials indicated that the storage terminal area still maintains relatively better infrastructure compared to other sections of the refinery complex and therefore offers the strongest development potential.
The proposed Tank Farm project would focus on oil storage and transshipment services for international companies involved in crude oil trading. According to Henriquez, storing oil on land is significantly less expensive than keeping products aboard ships offshore.
RdA confirmed it has already conducted studies and market research to evaluate international interest in the Tank Farm concept.
The organization also emphasized the importance of maintaining a transparent process by giving multiple interested companies equal opportunities instead of negotiating directly with a single investor.
Henriquez stated that although the facilities require maintenance and upgrades, the storage infrastructure still demonstrates operational potential for future economic activity.
Recent international proposals involving Aruba’s oil storage terminal were also officially announced through an international Request for Proposal process launched by RdA earlier this year.
