ORANJESTAD (AAN) – Parlamentario Dangui Oduber has criticized a recent trip taken by three government ministers to the Netherlands, alleging that the journey cost taxpayers over 100,000 florins. Oduber identified the officials as Prime Minister Mike Eman, Minister Gerlien Croes, and Minister Geoffrey Wever. He stated that the group, accompanied by advisors and the secretary of the Council of Ministers, traveled specifically to attend a celebration for Minister Plenipotentiary Milly Schwengle.
According to Oduber, the travel took place without an official agenda, purpose, or urgency. He characterized the trip as an unnecessary expense occurring shortly after Dutch Prime Minister Jetten visited Aruba for official talks. Oduber questioned the necessity of sending three ministers for the event, suggesting it was not a priority for the government.
The parliamentarian expressed concern regarding the economic situation facing local residents. He noted that while the government holds a budget surplus, citizens are facing record-high prices for gasoline, diesel, and basic food items. Oduber argued that promised improvements in purchasing power have not materialized.
