ORANJESTAD (AAN) – The Anti-Drug Foundation Aruba (FADA) has raised serious concerns about the growing use of dangerous substances targeting young women in Aruba’s nightlife scene.
According to FADA representative Rubiella Toppenberg, groups of young men are reportedly using drugs such as GHB, Scopolamine, and Tusi inside bars and nightclubs to secretly drug beverages.
Toppenberg explained that GHB is commonly known as a “date rape drug” because victims can lose awareness, memory, and consciousness after consuming it.
FADA warned that these substances continue circulating throughout nightlife locations in Aruba and stressed the need for greater awareness, especially among young people.
The organization advised residents and visitors to always watch bartenders prepare drinks, avoid accepting beverages from strangers, and remain alert while socializing.
Officials also warned that illegal drugs may appear in different forms including liquids, powders, pills, and patches.
FADA continues encouraging the public to remain cautious and informed to help prevent drug-related incidents across Aruba.
