Parliament member Shailiny Tromp-Lee private jet controversy concerns were raised again during a recent public parliamentary meeting, where she criticized Minister Gerlien Croes for failing to provide clear answers regarding the use of a private jet.
According to Tromp-Lee, both opposition members and coalition colleague Arthur de Meza requested clarification from the minister, but no detailed explanation was provided. Tromp-Lee described the matter as a “crisis of integrity” and argued that transparency is essential in public office.
The Shailiny Tromp-Lee private jet controversy centers around what she described as three different explanations given by the minister regarding payment for the flight. Tromp-Lee stated that the minister initially claimed to have paid personally, later referred to the flight as a free ride, and later indicated that the costs were shared.
Tromp-Lee also criticized the lack of responses to parliamentary questions on the issue. According to her, the MEP faction submitted 106 questions to the government regarding the matter but has yet to receive official answers.
During the meeting, Tromp-Lee demanded the release of supporting documents, including:
- The official invoice from the aviation company
- Bank statements showing payment from the minister’s personal account
She concluded by stating that transparency is not optional for public officials and emphasized that the people of Aruba deserve accountability from their government representatives.
