Dutch State Secretary Eric van der Burg is scheduled to begin a working visit to Aruba on Monday, October 12, as part of an October 12-17 tour of Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao. His Aruba schedule includes government meetings and visits focused on justice, economic redevelopment, defense and border supervision.
Meetings and site visits across Aruba
According to 24ora, Van der Burg will meet Governor Alfonso Boekhoudt, Prime Minister Mike Eman and Minister Gerlien Croes. He is also due to visit One of A Kind Cafe Aruba, an initiative of Fundacion Trampolin pa Trabou that helps people facing barriers to employment gain work experience.
At the Royal Netherlands Marine base in Savaneta, the state secretary is expected to receive information about the marines’ work in Aruba and a social training program for young people.
KIA, Lago and airport border supervision
The Van der Burg Aruba visit will include the former Lago refinery site, where plans for the area’s reorganization and development are expected to be discussed. He is then scheduled to visit Korrectie Instituut Aruba to learn about current conditions, challenges and achievements at the prison.
On Tuesday, October 13, Van der Burg is due at Queen Beatrix International Airport for a briefing on work to strengthen border supervision before continuing to Bonaire.
