ORANJESTAD (AAN) – The President of the STA Union, Diego de Cuba, has stated that the time has come for Serlimar to be transformed into a public limited company (NV) to create more room for development and growth.
During a recent meeting with Serlimar management, several topics were discussed, including recent developments within the company, employee contributions during the COVID-19 period, internal appointments, long-standing waste allowance issues, and the future direction of the company.
According to de Cuba, Serlimar plays a vital role in Aruba and must evolve to better support its employees. He explained that converting Serlimar into an NV would allow for faster promotions and career advancement, compared to the current system where public employees face lengthy procedures.
He also emphasized that employees would not lose their current benefits. Instead, these benefits could be formalized within a collective labor agreement, along with a more suitable salary structure.
“By turning the company into an NV, employee rights will become more visible and fair, and the organization will have greater flexibility to grow,” de Cuba stated.
