Wikipedia Aruba Showcases Artist Collection: Aruba hosted an open house event on Monday to showcase its physical and digital collection of Aruban artists. The gathering took place at the Arubiana-Caribiana section of the National Library of Aruba.

Ginelly Quandt, Wikimedia-in-Residence for Aruba, explained that the event aimed to introduce the public to the archive’s contents, with this edition focused on the theme “Artists of Aruba.” The initiative seeks to create comprehensive Wikipedia entries for all Aruban artists, making their work and creative practice more visible to a wider audience.
“The goal is to put all of Aruba’s artists on this platform so that their work and what they are engaged in becomes more visible to the public,” Quandt said during the presentation.
Wikipedia operates entirely through volunteer contributions. The work involves both editorial writing and technical tasks such as adding proper references and citations. As one of the most widely recognized online platforms, Wikipedia offers Aruban artists a global stage for recognition and documentation of their cultural contributions.
