ORANJESTAD (AAN): The President of Parliament, Marlon Sneek, has announced that several meetings will be called in the coming days. He emphasized that when requests for meetings come in, they correspond with the concerned ministers, who will schedule meetings based on their availability and preparation time.
He mentioned that there is an increased awareness of the effects of the ongoing global crisis, especially with the rise in oil prices and gasoline costs in Aruba.
President Sneek informed the public that Minister of Economy and Finance, Geoffrey Wever, is working on an action package, which he will present soon in Parliament. According to Sneek, the minister requested time to conduct research on the impact of the global war and its consequences for Aruba. Based on these findings, he will present a comprehensive plan addressing the impact, such as rising transportation and gasoline costs, to mitigate the different scenarios arising from this situation.
“In the initial stage, the minister will come to Parliament to provide a report on the scenarios, as well as the forecasts from the Central Bank and the Department of Economics. The Aruba Tourism Authority (ATA) will also be at the table for the tourism sector, so that we can have a complete package to address the global situation,” Sneek concluded.
