The Aruba students NHSMUN New York delegation achieved outstanding success at the 52nd National High School Model United Nations (NHSMUN) Conference held in New York City.
Students from across Aruba, united under the ARUMUN delegation, delivered exceptional performances at one of the world’s largest and most prestigious Model United Nations conferences. The delegation, organized locally by Tenn Group, included students from schools such as the International School of Aruba (ISA) and De Schakel College.
NHSMUN brings together thousands of high school students from around the world to debate global issues and simulate international diplomacy, providing a platform for academic excellence and leadership development.
This year marks the fourth consecutive year that ARUMUN has participated in NHSMUN, continuing to strengthen Aruba’s academic presence on the international stage.
Outstanding Delegation Achievements
The Aruba students NHSMUN New York delegation delivered an exceptional collective performance, earning two major awards:
-
Excellence in Research and Preparation Award, recognizing the delegation’s outstanding academic research and preparation prior to the conference.
-
Excellence in Overall Performance Award, highlighting their strong diplomacy, collaboration, and effectiveness during committee sessions.
These awards reflect months of preparation in areas such as policy research, negotiation, public speaking, and teamwork.
Individual Recognitions
In addition to the group achievements, several students received individual honors for their exceptional performance.
Juan Rodriguez earned a Distinction Award in the Organization of American States (OAS) committee, recognizing him as one of the top-performing delegates. He also received a special invitation to meet former U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris.
Furthermore, three ARUMUN students were selected as Committee Rapporteurs, a prestigious role in which delegates represent their committees and deliver closing remarks during the conference ceremony. This role is awarded to highly committed and effective participants.
Building Future Global Leaders
Through the ARUMUN program, Aruba students NHSMUN New York participants develop essential skills such as public speaking, diplomacy, negotiation, leadership, and global awareness.
The initiative brings together students from different schools across Aruba and prepares them to compete at an international academic level.
Following this year’s success, ARUMUN is already preparing for its fifth consecutive participation in NHSMUN, with applications for the next delegation expected to open soon.
