ORANJESTAD (AAN): The Department of Supervision and Legal Affairs of the Department of Public Works (DOW) has released an overview of construction permit applications submitted and approved during 2025.
According to the report, between January 6, 2025, and December 28, 2025, DOW received and processed a significant number of requests for construction permits across the island.
2025 Construction Permit Overview:

Construction permit applications submitted: 1,043

Construction permits approved: 945

Construction permits rejected: 268

Construction permits collected: 906
DOW also reminded residents who have recently acquired land of the required documentation needed to apply for a construction permit.
Required Documents for a Residential Construction Permit

House plans (architectural drawings) – 2 copies

Site location plan – 2 copies
-
Structural drawings and calculations – 2 copies
-
Notarial deed or Ministerial Decree – 1 copy

Valid identification – 1 copy
-
Completed DOW application form

Payment of 200 florins

Commercial building plans – 4 copies

Site location plan – 4 copies

Structural drawings and calculations – 2 copies

Notarial deed or Ministerial Decree – 1 copy

Payment of 200 florins
Once a permit is approved, applicants must pay any remaining balance at the time of collection. Permits must be collected within 180 days, otherwise they will be cancelled and a new application must be submitted.
