Minister of Finance, Economy, and the Primary Sector, Geoffrey Wever, announced a major transformation for the income tax declaration process. Starting with the 2025 fiscal year, the income tax form will be fully digital, offering faster and more efficient processing of results.
“I am very pleased that we are starting this important project, approved by the AVP-FUTURO Ministerial Cabinet with an allocation of Afl. 3.1 million, enabling the Finance Department professionals to ensure that by 2026 all citizens can file their income tax digitally,” Minister Wever said.
Automation of the income tax process marks a significant step in the digitalization and modernization of the Tax Department. Key benefits include:
- A secure and user-friendly online filing system.
- Higher quality data and better compliance with tax obligations.
- Faster processing of declarations with reduced administrative costs.
- A strong foundation for digitalizing other processes, such as a digital mailbox.
The digital income tax project will be completed in 2026, allowing citizens to file their 2025 tax declarations online.
The digital declaration will be accessible via the “BO impuesto” (BOi) portal, integrating Census registry data with the Tax Department’s digital system, enabling a fully automated and efficient filing process.
Minister Wever emphasized close collaboration with the Tax Department to secure the necessary budget funds for this initiative. He thanked the team for their efforts in digitalization and assured citizens that this project will directly enhance administrative efficiency, transparency, and service quality.
