Aruba’s Parliament has officially approved the 2026 national budget presented by the AVP–Futuro Cabinet, with full support from all coalition members. Minister of Finance Geoffrey Wever confirmed the approval and expressed satisfaction with the outcome.

The 2026 budget records a surplus of 216 million florins for the collective sector, representing 2.7 percent of Aruba’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Similar to the 2025 supplementary budget, the 2026 budget complies with Aruba’s financial supervision law.

With the approval of this budget, the AVP–Futuro Cabinet continues its commitment to responsible and prudent financial management, in line with legal budgetary standards. The government stated that the goal remains to return the benefits of economic growth directly to the people of Aruba.

Starting January 1, 2026, all pensioners will receive an additional 150 florins per month. The budget also provides for salary increases for teachers, improvements in wage scales for government professionals, and an agreement between the Government of Aruba and FCCA23 for the construction of affordable housing, among other initiatives.

The approved budget meets the legal requirement of maintaining a minimum financial balance of 1 percent for the collective sector, as stipulated by the Landsverordening Aruba Financieel Toezicht (LAft).

Of the total surplus, 121 million florins—equivalent to 1.5 percent of GDP—is attributed directly to the government. Public debt is projected to decrease to 57 percent of GDP. Expenditures on personnel, goods, and services remain within established financial limits. With an expected economic growth rate of 2.6 percent in 2026, government revenues are projected to increase by 50 million florins.

According to Minister Wever, the 2026 budget reflects the ongoing implementation of the AVP–Futuro Cabinet’s 2025–2028 Governance Program, grounded in disciplined financial management and sustainable economic development.

Minister Wever extended his gratitude to the Council of Ministers, led by Prime Minister Mike Eman, the 12 coalition Members of Parliament, and especially the civil servants of the Government of Aruba. He gave special recognition to the staff of the Directorate of Finance and the Directorate of Legislation for their dedication and long working hours in finalizing the approved 2026 budget.
