Judge Orders Arrest of Man Accused of Attempted Murder in Aruba

A 57-year-old man identified as H.R. (known as Flint) is facing serious charges of attempted murder and assault in a case brought forward by the Public Prosecutor’s Office.

The incident dates back to June 24, 2024, when H.R. allegedly stabbed another man with a knife. He has also been charged with mistreatment as a subsidiary offense.

During Thursday’s court session, H.R. failed to appear, although his attorney, Mr. Mohamed, was present. The attorney explained that his client has no fixed address, making it difficult to contact him.

The judge questioned the prosecution about how H.R., who is well known to police and has a lengthy criminal record—including a prior conviction for homicide—was released without a judicial order. Under the new Penal Code, a prosecutor may request a release, but the decision ultimately rests with the judge. In this case, no such judicial decision was made, yet the suspect was set free and is now absent from court.

Given the seriousness of the accusations and H.R.’s criminal background, the judge ruled that the case should not proceed without the suspect present. An official order has been issued for police to locate and arrest H.R. so that he can face trial.

The case has been postponed until October 23, 2025, when H.R. will be brought before the court.
