A Palm Beach motorcycle hit-and-run left a rider critically injured before police detained the driver near Fisherman's Huts, Diario reported.
Semi-Frontal Crash Near Palm Beach
A motorcyclist was critically injured in a collision near the Citgo station and Palm Aruba Condos at about 9:45 p.m. Saturday, Diario reported. The source said a white Kia Picanto travelling in the opposite direction moved too far left and struck the motorcycle in a semi-frontal impact.
Driver Allegedly Leaves the Scene
Witnesses initially saw the car stop, but its driver and passenger later drove away while the injured rider remained on the road, according to Diario. Other motorcyclists followed and kept police informed. The Palm Beach motorcycle hit-and-run account said the vehicle was parked near Fisherman's Huts.
Police Detain Driver Near Beach
Police located the Kia and two people near the beach. The source reported that the driver showed signs of impairment and did not have a driving licence. Officers detained the driver, and a tow truck removed the car for investigation. Formal charges were not listed.
Rider Treated in Intensive Care
Paramedics controlled heavy bleeding and stabilized the rider before transport to Horacio Oduber Hospital. Diario said the motorcyclist received urgent specialist care and remained in intensive care in critical condition. Police closed the road while investigators documented the scene and interviewed witnesses.
