Aruba waste cooperation with Bonaire and Curaçao was examined during Prime Minister Mike Eman’s visit to HVC in Alkmaar, NoticiaCla reported on October 19.
Prime minister visits waste-recovery facilities
Prime Minister Mike Eman visited HVC facilities that recover materials from waste and produce electricity and heat. He discussed the possibility of cooperation involving Serlimar, Selikor, Selibon, EcoTech and HVC, according to the report.
Combined waste volumes are a feasibility question
A central question is whether the three islands together could provide enough waste to make a modern installation economically viable. Aruba’s former refinery area is being considered as a possible location.
No final facility or location approved
The potential installation could separate waste, recover raw materials and turn non-recyclable waste into energy. The proposal remains exploratory: cooperation arrangements, feasibility and any eventual location still require investigation, NoticiaCla reported.
