An Oranjestad traffic check resulted in 107 fines as police targeted speeding, mobile-phone use and other road violations.
Operation runs from afternoon into evening
Oranjestad district police conducted the operation on Wednesday, September 23, from the afternoon until late in the evening. The Motorized Unit and the CEA department also participated.
Officers worked at several locations, including Watty Vos Boulevard near the Bushiri and Cumana roundabouts and Henny Eman Boulevard near the Aruba Tourism Authority.
Police issue fines for multiple violations
The 107 fines covered speeding, using a mobile phone while driving, driver’s licence problems, failure to wear a seat belt, unpaid vehicle tax, missing insurance or inspection documents and defective lights.
The operation focused on both driving behavior and whether vehicles and drivers had the documents required for the road.
Two people arrested and one vehicle seized
Police also arrested two people for lacking legal residence permits. Officers seized one vehicle that had no valid documents, according to the report.
The Aruba Police Force said traffic checks will continue and urged drivers to keep their documents current and valid.
