Eman and Mercelina discussed cooperation within the Kingdom during a meeting in The Hague, according to an October 21 report by DIARIO. The talks brought together Aruba Prime Minister Mike Eman and Sint Maarten Prime Minister Luc Mercelina ahead of the first Kingdom Summit.
Aruba’s regional role discussed
Eman outlined a role for Aruba as a connection point for Dutch institutions and businesses interested in Caribbean and Latin American markets. He cited the island’s location, languages and regional business knowledge.
As an example, he referred to Wageningen University & Research exploring a permanent presence in Aruba. The report describes an opportunity under discussion, not a newly opened university facility or a signed commercial deal from this meeting.
Bilateral exchange precedes November summit
The meeting concerned preparations for the Kingdom Summit scheduled for November 17–18 in Sint Maarten, involving Aruba, Curaçao, the Netherlands and Sint Maarten.
DIARIO did not provide a separate exact date for the bilateral meeting or announce binding decisions from it. Eman’s stated aim was cooperation that produces practical economic and knowledge-sharing opportunities.
