Aruba Introduces New Minister Plenipotentiary in Netherlands

ORANJESTAD (AAN) – The Government of Aruba officially introduced Mildred Schwengle as Aruba’s new Minister Plenipotentiary in the Netherlands during a formal ceremony held at the historic Nieuwe Kerk in The Hague.

The event gathered diplomats, Dutch parliament members, political leaders, and representatives from the Dutch Kingdom and Caribbean communities.

Aruba ministers Gerlien Croes and Geoffrey Wever attended the ceremony together with Prime Minister Mike Eman, while the evening also commemorated Aruba’s 40 years of Status Aparte and the 50th anniversary of Aruba’s national anthem and flag.

During his speech, Prime Minister Mike Eman emphasized the importance of public service, cooperation within the Kingdom, and strengthening relationships based on mutual respect and shared interests.

Vice Prime Minister Gerlien Croes praised Schwengle’s experience, leadership, and understanding of the Aruban people.

Schwengle also highlighted Aruba’s recent efforts to establish partnerships involving Wageningen University and plans connected to EU preclearance cooperation with Schiphol Airport and KLM.

The government described Schwengle’s appointment as an important step in strengthening diplomatic relations between Aruba and the Netherlands.
