World-renowned Harvard philosopher Michael Sandel will headline the Common Good Conference Aruba as the keynote speaker on January 29 and 30, 2026, marking Aruba’s 40th anniversary of Status Aparte.
Michael Sandel is internationally respected for making moral and political philosophy accessible to the public. Through best-selling books such as What Money Can’t Buy and The Tyranny of Merit, he has sparked global debate on market values, social solidarity, and civic responsibility.
His participation places Aruba on the international stage as a hub for meaningful dialogue on democracy, ethics, sustainability, and the common good—especially relevant for small island societies facing social and environmental challenges.
The conference, alongside the Common Good Expo, will bring together international thinkers, local leaders, and over 50 community organizations to connect ethical reflection with real-world action.
Prime Minister Mike Eman stated that Sandel’s visit highlights Aruba’s commitment to building a society rooted in dignity, solidarity, and shared responsibility.
