Isabel Alves Dammers Aruba is being honored by the Government of Aruba for 40 years of public service and a career dedicated to land surveying, spatial planning and national development.
After completing her studies, Alves Dammers returned to Aruba and began her professional career at Kadaster.
She made history as the first woman to serve as a land surveyor there, contributing to the development of land surveying and land-management practices on the island.
Throughout her long government career, Alves Dammers also served as part of the management team involved in establishing and developing the government department that later evolved into the Department of Infrastructure and Planning, known as DIP.
In leadership roles, she headed the policy division responsible for spatial development within Ruimtelijke Ordening en Planologie and also carried responsibilities related to ROPV.
Her expertise in spatial planning and territorial development was built through decades of practical experience, dedication and public service.
Sharing Knowledge With Colleagues
One of the defining aspects of Alves Dammers’ career was her commitment to sharing knowledge with colleagues and other public employees.
Through guidance, mentoring and professional support, she helped many employees strengthen their skills and carry out their responsibilities with greater confidence and professionalism.
Her contribution therefore extended beyond her own position and became part of the development of multiple generations of public-sector professionals.
Contribution to Aruba’s Beach Policy
Alves Dammers also contributed to the development of Aruba’s first Beach Policy.
Her involvement helped shape the way the island approaches the management, use and protection of coastal and beach areas.
The government said her 40 years of service represent much more than a long professional career.
