ORANJESTAD (AAN) – Practice Assistants (POH) across Aruba celebrated International POH Day on May 22 with a special program designed to facilitate team building and professional development. The event allowed staff members to pause and reflect on their work, while also demonstrating appreciation for the significant effort they contribute to the Aruban community.
The activities began with a lecture delivered by Sra. Misha Raymond on the subject of effective communication. Organizers emphasized that since POHs spend much of their time providing information during consultations, communication is a cornerstone of their profession. The discussion highlighted the need for effective interaction with patients.
Following the educational component, the group gathered for lunch and participated in poolside games organized to encourage interaction. As POHs are stationed individually at general practitioners’ offices and usually meet only once a month for work-related meetings, this event provided a rare opportunity for social connection. The organizers expressed hope that the activities would bring the team closer together and help newer employees integrate with their colleagues.
