Iberostar Aruba continues its efforts to promote sustainable tourism by reducing food waste using artificial intelligence (AI). Since April 2026, JOIA Aruba has implemented an AI-powered monitoring system in its kitchens to track food usage and minimize waste. The system provides chefs and staff with insights on unsold food, enabling smarter planning and responsible operations. Iberostar also demonstrated the system to local media, showcasing its 3R initiative (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) and long-term goal to minimize landfill waste. These efforts support a positive tourism model in Aruba and enhance operational efficiency while protecting the environment.
