ORANJESTAD, Aruba — Hadicurari Fishing Results show that a total of 1,045.4 kilograms of fish was officially weighed during the major fishing tournament and Family Day held at Centro di Pesca Hadicurari in Palm Beach.
A total of 42 boats registered for the tournament despite strong winds affecting Aruba during the weeks leading up to the competition. Of those boats, 30 returned to the center to weigh fish that qualified for the competition.
The event formed part of the celebration of Fishermen’s Day and brought together fishermen, families and members of the public.
Hadicurari Fishing Results Draw Strong Competition
Activities began before sunrise as participating boats reported their departures from ports around Aruba.
Teams shared photographs as they headed out to sea, while preparations continued at Centro di Pesca Hadicurari.
From approximately 11:00 a.m., visitors began arriving under large tents set up near the beach. Food was available through Wine and Dine Aruba and vendors connected with Santa Rosa.
As boats returned, the official weighing process began while a DJ provided entertainment.
By around 2:00 p.m., the area became especially busy as several boats arrived with substantial catches.
Dushi Vibez also performed live music during the afternoon.
Largest Fish and Species Winners
The Hadicurari Fishing Results included prizes across several fish categories.
The largest mulato was caught by Kraken Fishing Team, led by Captain Robby Solognier, weighing 13 kilograms.
Queen Sophia, captained by Edward Dirks, recorded the largest conofes at 17.6 kilograms.
The Jacks category went to STC Boys aboard Edilane with a catch weighing 16.6 kilograms.
Driftwood Fishing Team, led by Sergio Rasmijn, landed the largest dorado or mahi-mahi at 12.2 kilograms.
The largest picuda weighed 16.2 kilograms and was caught by Caba Lama of Noord, captained by Jimmy Olivir.
Bloemond Boys, aboard Adelice under Captain Glembert Bislip, won the tuna category with a 9.3-kilogram fish.
Techi Boys Land Tournament’s Biggest Fish
One of the day’s biggest achievements belonged to Techi Boys, represented by Marcel, Leo and Quito Briesen.
The team caught a 22.9-kilogram Cubera Snapper, which won the snapper category.
The catch was also declared the largest individual fish of the entire tournament and the largest specimen in the large-boat category.
Shaustienne Fishing Team, represented by Agustin and Chin Kelly, caught the largest Warsaw grouper at 18.5 kilograms.
La Mia Familia, aboard Rosalia under Captain Tibo Vasquez, won the pishiporco category with a 2.3-kilogram catch.
Captain Han Jing Dong’s boat IDA won the Bonacanap/Robeki category with a fish weighing 0.5 kilograms.
The special Wow’i Yendi prize went to Team Shalom aboard Shalom II, led by Captain Julio Dirks.
Small Boat Results
In the category for boats under 24 feet, the largest individual specimen was a 20.9-kilogram Cubera Snapper caught by Team Ban p’e aboard My Darling, captained by Buchi Briesen.
For total qualifying weight among small boats:
- Third place: Ban p’e – My Darling – 45.1 kg
- Second place: Picuda Boys – Doña Filomena – 67.5 kg
- First place: Team Ida – Ida – 75.2 kg
Team Ida also won the main small-boat prize.
Techi Boys Win Large Boat Category
For boats over 24 feet, the final Hadicurari Fishing Results were:
- Third place: Bloemond Boys – Adelice – 77.9 kg
- Second place: STC Boys – Edilane – 126.8 kg
- First place: Techi Boys – 138 kg
Techi Boys therefore secured the top overall weight in the large-boat category as well as the tournament’s largest individual fish.
Organizers thanked the fishermen, volunteers, visitors, Aruba Wine and Dine, Hadicurari, Nos Clubhuis, Santa Rosa and everyone who helped organize the Fishermen’s Day celebration.
With more than 1,045 kilograms of fish officially weighed, the tournament once again highlighted fishing’s continuing importance within Aruba’s culture and community.
