ORANJESTAD, Aruba — Geoffrey Wever CBA Strategy discussions are highlighting the importance of long-term economic planning, data-driven government decisions and closer cooperation between Aruba’s government and the Centrale Bank van Aruba.

Minister Geoffrey Wever recently participated in Business Days 2026, organized by the Centrale Bank van Aruba under the theme “Leading with Equity, Anchored in the Future.”

The event brought together representatives from the financial sector, government and other key organizations to exchange knowledge and discuss the future direction of Aruba’s economy.

Wever said he was impressed by the presentations and emphasized that this type of dialogue is essential for sound economic policymaking.

Geoffrey Wever CBA Strategy Focuses on Future

During Business Days 2026, the Central Bank presented its strategic plan for 2026–2030, titled “Anchored in the Future.”

The plan outlines how the institution intends to prepare for developments that could affect Aruba’s financial and economic environment over the coming years.

CBA also presented economic research and information concerning the island’s future economic outlook.

According to the information shared with Wever, the presentations included an Economic Outlook looking toward 2027 as well as research examining policies, opportunities and alternatives Aruba may need to consider as it approaches 2040.

For Wever, the presentations demonstrated why economic policy cannot focus exclusively on immediate challenges.

Wever Calls for Forward Planning

The minister said responsible economic management requires Aruba to anticipate future developments, plan carefully and create conditions that support stability and opportunity.

He argued that government decisions should increasingly be based on reliable data and research rather than short-term reactions.

The Geoffrey Wever CBA Strategy discussion therefore centered on using economic analysis to guide decisions that could affect Aruba for many years.

Wever said government has a responsibility to maintain a clear vision for the future while continuing to address present-day economic priorities.

Central Bank Presents Long-Term Research

CBA’s Business Days also included research examining challenges Aruba could face over the next 10 to 15 years.

The Central Bank has said its latest Governing from the Future publication contains seven studies examining economic and policy issues that could affect Aruba during that period.

Subjects considered through long-term research can help government institutions, businesses and financial organizations better prepare for economic, technological and other structural changes.

The Central Bank’s strategic plan also places importance on areas such as digitalization, data, stakeholder cooperation and preparation for future risks.

Government and CBA Cooperation

Wever emphasized that government should continue strengthening cooperation with important institutions such as the Centrale Bank van Aruba.

He said research and economic data should form an important foundation for policymaking.

Close cooperation between government, financial institutions and other stakeholders can also help Aruba identify risks earlier and develop more effective long-term responses.

The minister described Business Days 2026 as an important opportunity for different sectors to discuss where Aruba’s economy is heading and what steps may be necessary to maintain stability.

For Wever, the Geoffrey Wever CBA Strategy message is ultimately about looking beyond today’s economic challenges and preparing Aruba for future opportunities.

He said government must continue using research, reliable information and institutional cooperation to maintain confidence and create the conditions for sustainable economic development.
