ORANJESTAD (AAN) – Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten visited Queen Beatrix International Airport during his official trip to Aruba and received an extensive presentation on the Gateway 2030 airport expansion program.

Aruba Airport Authority (AAA) showcased ongoing investments focused on improving passenger experience, operational efficiency, sustainability, and international connectivity.

During the visit, Jetten toured the new U.S. Check-In Hall that opened in April 2025 as part of Phase 1A of Gateway 2030.

The delegation also reviewed Aruba’s advanced baggage handling system, which can process up to 2,000 bags per hour to improve passenger flow and airport efficiency.

Officials provided updates on Phase 1B of the project, currently under construction near Gate 8, which will include new boarding bridges, larger waiting areas, commercial spaces, and dining facilities.

AAA also highlighted Aruba’s U.S. Customs and Border Protection Pre-clearance operations, allowing passengers traveling to the United States to complete immigration and customs procedures before departure from Aruba.

Airport officials stated that Gateway 2030 is designed to prepare Aruba’s airport infrastructure for the future while strengthening the island’s role as an efficient international travel hub.
