ORANJESTAD (AAN) – Furniture and Transport Drive Aruba Inflation in June, according to the latest figures released by Aruba’s Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), which show that household furnishings recorded the largest monthly price increase during June 2026.
The Furniture and Household Equipment sector posted a 5.0% increase, making it the fastest-growing category in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the month.
Within that sector, the largest price increases were recorded in:
- Household appliances: +8.1%
- Tools and equipment for home and garden: +16.9%
The Transport sector also recorded a monthly increase of 1.0%, largely driven by a 2.2% rise in expenses related to the operation and use of personal vehicles.
Meanwhile, the Communication category experienced the largest monthly decline, falling 3.8%. The decrease was mainly attributed to a 32.8% drop in the prices of telephone and fax equipment.
According to the CBS, the categories that had the greatest impact on the Consumer Price Index during June included both upward and downward price movements.
The main contributors to higher prices were:
- Personal vehicle operating expenses
- Household appliances
- Home and garden tools and equipment
- Personal care products
The categories contributing to lower prices included:
- Telephone and fax equipment
- Accommodation services
- Clothing
- Durable recreational goods
The latest Consumer Price Index figures highlight continued changes in household spending patterns, with transportation and home-related purchases contributing most significantly to overall price increases during June 2026.
