The Social Formation Program (SVT – Sociaal Vormings Traject) has been offering young people a second chance at success for the past 15 years. The program is a structured youth development initiative designed to guide young men between the ages of 17 and 25 toward a better future.

SVT is specifically aimed at young people who are at a crossroads in life — whether they have dropped out of school, are unemployed, or are searching for direction. The program focuses on building discipline, confidence, and responsibility while helping participants create a pathway into the job market or continue their education.

Jessy Ras of SVT explained in an interview that registration is now open for the next Social Formation program, which will begin on August 17. Young men who identify with the structure and benefits of the program are encouraged to register and go through the selection process.

Currently, there is no program available for young women due to insufficient enrollment to form a group. However, plans are in place to launch a future trajectory once enough motivated female participants register.

To register for the Social Formation Program in Aruba, applicants must:

  • Be between 17 and 25 years old

  • Hold a Dutch passport

  • If of another nationality, possess a valid residence permit

  • Have basic understanding of Papiamento (recommended)

During the selection phase, candidates must complete:

  • A medical examination

  • A physical fitness test

  • An interview with social workers

The SVT office is located at the Marinierskazerne in Savaneta.
