ORANJESTAD (AAN) – On June 11, 2026, the Dutch Royal Navy ship Zr.Ms. Groningen intercepted a boat transporting drugs near Aruba.
The operation involved aerial surveillance by a Coast Guard aircraft, coordinated pursuit by Zr.Ms. Groningen, and support from the NH90 helicopter. Two other Coast Guard vessels, a FRISC and a Metal Shark, joined the interception.
The two suspects aboard the go-fast boat were apprehended, and the drug packages were delivered to the Aruba Police Department. All seized drugs were destroyed.
Zr.Ms. Groningen has been patrolling the Caribbean region since early June, monitoring security around the ABC islands and supporting Coast Guard operations.
